La Lucciola: A Hidden Gem with Ethnic Touches (Bali Trip pt. 2)

Bali never failed to amaze me in so many ways. I went there when I was small, and now that I went back there again, there are a lot of improvements on a lot of things in Bali. I'm sure that people will mostly agree that food is one of the things you have to experience and try in Bali, since Bali offered many kinds of dishes to try.

I, however, am surprised once I found out that there's this particular restaurant that many might not know where it is. Which is surprising, since really, this one restaurant is mind blowingly amazing and I thought everyone knew about it.

So here I'm going to introduce it: La Lucciola!

La Lucciola and Potato Head have one similarity and one difference, in my opinion. A similarity between the two is that they serve high-end dishes with equally high prices. However, the difference is that while Potato Head is more lush and modern in terms of ambiance, La Lucciola's atmosphere is more ethnic and very Bali with open-viewed restaurant that is directed to the beach view. Sadly, I didn't take a photograph of the whole restaurant, so unfortunately Google is your best friend on that.

Maybe the appearance might fooled people? Well, maybe.

Anyways, let's cut down to the food!

One thing that is remarkable of La Lucciola is the menu. The staff told us that they changed the menu everyday, and that is visible from the date (printed below the Lunch title). I kind of liked it since it shows how the restaurant is innovative on their menu, unlike restaurants that stick with the same menu again and again.

But for now, I didn't try any of the specials and next thing I know, I placed my order and the complimentary food came after a short while.

Talk about fancy! This is the first complimentary food we got, which consists of Gorgonzola cheese mixed with asparagus bits and some other ingredients that I forgot the names. It smells really nice, and the flavor itself is nearly heavenly. Glad that the cheese is not really salty, and what I liked most is how this literally melts in your mouth. I also likened the fact that they made it in small portions so you can savor all the textures and flavors at once,

Reeeally heavenly...dang, now I crave for it...

Next is the complimentary bread, and I've got to say, this got to be my second favorite complimentary bread after the one's in UNION. Not only the bread is still so warm, the bread is too soft to be true. The butter is good as well, and I kind of craved for it too, LOL.

After the complimentary session, our drinks then arrived! Mine is Mango and Tangerine Granita, as seen below!

Mango and Tangerine Granita (38k)

This drink is so superb, especially for this unbearable heat of Bali! They got these two fruits that I liked the most and I just kind of ordered this one, and they turned out awesome! It's kind of like a slushie, but with real fruits and total amazement for throat. Just soo good!

What's next? Yep, the main star of the La Lucciola dining experience; the lunch! I ordered this particularly amazing dish called Fritto misto, scampi, prawns, calamari, trevally, garlic aiolli.

Fritto misto, scampi, prawns, calamari, trevally, garlic aiolli (117k)

This one dish is all seafood, with tartar sauce for the dipping sauce. Well it's not tartar since it's actually garlic aiolli, but it sure did taste like one with a hint of lemon/lime. The trevally fish is absolutely to die for, like literally. The meat is so soft and very fresh, and the sauce complimented it very well too. The prawn is also very tender and juicy, and in overall, the sauce got to be the one and only perfect company for such seafood like this. Just, perfect. Indescribable too.

All in all, I got quite full and the staff even gave us more bread after the meal (which is very nice, but I was just so full). Though I did manage to sneak one bread, I didn't get to try their desserts, which is a sham, really. I'd say this dining experience is one of those unforgettable ones. The staff was very friendly and even went on explaining each dishes they had and is always ready to assist us.

Good food, good service, stunning beach view, and soothing playlist for such afternoon. Honestly, I could stay there all day if I wanted to. I am definitely putting La Lucciola on my 'to-go' list whenever I'm going back to Bali again. If you're going there, just make sure you reserve a spot in this superb place. I'm not sure about lunch since it wasn't that crowded, but I'm sure it will be once dinner time arrived.

Thank you for the soothing experience, La Lucciola!

note: ask people around to find the place, but basically if you found a bridge with green water below and missing fences on the middle part of the bridge, just go ahead and you'll find La Lucciola.
