Beatrice Quarters: All the Pinks and Pastels

For Jakartans, it is an undeniable fact that Pantai Indah Kapuk (or PIK) is the 'Golden Mine' for foodies all around Jakarta. Or 'Heaven'. Or....whatever you want to call it as.

Especially this very place named Rukan Crown.

They got every types of dishes there, really. That place is like a collection of every kinds of dishes, no joke. From the modern Western dishes like BBQ, steak, pasta, and the likes, to the authentic Asian dishes such as noodles, sushi, and many more. Every restaurants have their own unique dishes, and for some, it might be somehow the same with one and another (e.g. sushi restaurants just blocks away from another). Not to mention, bubble tea shops.

Yeah, you get my point.

For a person like me who lived miles away from PIK, this is (again) a rare chance for me to try one of their hip restaurants there. As you can see, Jakarta has this plague called 'traffic jam'. And we all avoided on going there because of that reason, since you'll spend at least 1-2 hours to go there and go back home. However, since our church is located at Pluit, PIK just seemed so near to us (lol). And so there we went.

Originally, I told my parents to just choose wherever they want to eat, but since the final choice was on my hands (I'm the foodie in the house, haha), the choice landed on Beatrice Quarters.

The place has its cute ambiance, and like what my mom said, 'it looks like a place for kids'. For me, it has that combination of home-y Victorian era of a house, and the bright colors did reminded me of vintage things. It's an ideal place for hangout, and the indoor place is quite small. Although girly things are never my thing, but overall, I quite liked this place.

The place was still empty when we got there, so we were the first customers. We chose the indoor seating, and began on flipping through the menu. First, the table. It got a collage-type of table, which is unique on its own.

I also loved their menu design. Honestly, I think the owner did a great job on creating an appealing menu. It is indeed very cute! And food porn as well, haha....

Their cute menu design

First off; the drinks! We ordered two, but both of them are big-sized, fitting for 3 people. Unfortunately, I didn't snap a pic of it, but overall it was quite OK for my tongue. Not overly too sweet, in general. But I found nothing special about those two, so these were decent.

Next is my brother's brunch; All Day Breakfast. He had a fondness on scrambled eggs, and so he chose that one. And really, this is quite a big feast for him. It got all of the breakfast goodness in one plate. One thing that I liked was the baby potatoes. They still got their skins on! YAY! But well, I didn't get a taste of the rest of the plate's delicacies, so no further comment on it. ;)

Then comes my order, Chicken Garlic Pasta. In all honesty, this dish was a bit of a disappointment for me. The chicken was cooked to a good level, and really, I had no problem eating them off since it's quite good. But the pasta was a bit too heavy for my liking. Maybe it's just me, but the condiments made it hard for me to finish it. It was generally decent, though. My stomach was not in its good mood after consuming the others' dishes (most of them are shared), so maybe that's why I couldn't finish it?

Maybe.

And finally, the most anticipated part of every dining; desserts! When it comes to desserts, I seems to always have a second stomach to handle the sweet consumption part. And this time, my stomach did it again.

I ordered a Apple Pie Millefeuille simply because I love apple pie, and a big fan of those juicy pies. Although I was a bit tempted to get the Matcha one instead, but I suppose that was rather too mainstream, yeah? All of them are in 20cm of length; pretty big for my preference. All in all, at first glance, the presentation is a real eye-candy. Simple and chic, that's what I would describe it as.

And in one bite, all of my stomach's fullness disappeared in a blink of an eye, and I craved for more.

What makes it delightful, though? I think every part of this desserts, every elements of it, did their best jobs on complimenting each other. The top part of the millefeuille; the apple filling, was quite light (not too much cinnamon in it). Exactly what I needed at that moment. The vanilla cream was very creamy, but not to the point where I would stop eating it. The crispy crepe was not thin enough, however. But that's okay. And the vanilla ice cream was a perfect finish for this delightful dessert.

Beauty at first sight :)
Overall, it was a delightful brunch (or lunch?) experience. Though I liked their dishes, I was greatly disappointed by their service, and so were my parents. Sure, they got quite a friendly services to offer, but in all honesty (no offense), the staffs were quite slow on serving the dishes that we ordered. It always took them so long to just place one dish that we ordered, in which logically, didn't have to take that long to just serve one dish. Considering that we were the first customers to be served, this was the major minus point from me. Good thing that my dad was quite in a good mood, or he would have snapped (which is the one thing I want to avoid).

Good (though decent) food, good music, good atmosphere (with a minus point for service). Quite an ideal place for weekend hangout, dontcha think? :) It didn't make me go 'wow' all the way (except the desserts), but it was a good dining experience.

And thank you for the satisfying brunch, Beatrice Quarters. Let's see if I can come again soon, hmm? ;)
