I was so excited for today since me and my friend (I called her my twin since...we have lots of similar interests, BUT ANYWAY) planned on watching Pacific Rim with IMAX in Gandaria City. Since Pacific Rim is in my list of 'most anticipated movie of 2013' (I'm a technology freak, mind you, and Guillermo del Toro directed to movie, for heaven's sake!), I just wanted to watch it in IMAX 3D so bad! Not going to spoil anything here, but my expectations (which were rather high) were met, and I'm still having this technological-awesomeness FEELS in my head ^^
It is highly recommended to watch this in IMAX, and I assure you, it's worth every single penny. NO REGRETS. :))
Anyways, an amazing movie must be equaled with amazing food before watching the movie, am I right? B)
When we wondered about, trying to find a place to eat (but also had to be near the cinema), we stumbled on this wonderful yet attractive place; Lady Alice Tearoom. To make it short, although the place looks small at first glance, the tables are located in front of their store and it sort of scattered near the store. The place was dominated with the color blue and white, and I think it's suitable for the character Alice (Disney version).
This place is new, since I haven't see that place before. So yeah, off we went! And we were glad that it wasn't crowded yet!
Their simple and chic menu |
My first guess before opening this menu; this must be some kind of Japanese restaurant. Okay, before you go all asking 'but they don't look like they're serving Japanese food!' or 'it doesn't look like Japanese restaurant to me', let me tell you why I said this. First of all, Japanese manga and anime has the tendency to abuse the story 'Alice in Wonderland' and incorporate it into anime-style. Heck, you can literally find many manga, games, or visual novel games with 'Alice in Wonderland' as the theme. Restaurants are included as well. There are quite a lot of them in Japan itself.
So guess what? I was right about it.
The menu has the standard English writings, with the addition of Japanese language in it. But well, I don't see any Indonesian language in there, plus I spot a page where the header is 'Omu Rice'. Now you know what I meant.
Despite it all, I found the menu quite attractive, and I love it when restaurants like this includes photos in their menus. Makes it easier for me to choose which one I want to eat, personally. I also loved the design. It's all minimalist and no excessive decorations added; a plus point! It also has that kind of high-class feel as well.
A peek of the inside of their menu |
Beautiful, isn't it?
So, after we placed our order (with constant laughing and commenting on how we stuck at a picture and then we couldn't decide which one to order), my drink came after only a few minutes later. I ordered this gorgeous drink, called Fruit de la Passion Tea.
Fruit de la Passion Tea (Iced 35k, Hot 32k) |
Apple and Sunkist slices; chic accent! |
I absolutely love the teacup and the cup as well! They're so cute, and I can see clearly how the tea looks like, which is a personal plus point for me. And the tea? It wasn't that hot, and it was warm. But I love the taste of the tea. It was fruity at first sip, but you could slowly taste a subtle hint of mint in it before gulping it down. I think I just fell in love with this tea... :)
Aglio Olio Vongole (47k) |
For the meal itself, I ordered Aglio Olio Vongole. This pasta is spicy! At first I thought the spicy level wouldn't be so high, only to be wronged since this is quite spicy. I really love the pasta though, since the spaghetti is cooked to its appropiate 'tenderness'; not too hard, and not too soft. The clams, although they were a bit dry and too small for my preference, were good as well and were easy to chew on. I love spicy things, and overall this is a good one for me. Although I just couldn't keep up with the spiciness at that time. :P
Me and my friend's lunch |
Another thing to note down (if you're planning to go there on weekends), try their chimney cake! I haven't try it due to the movie that started at 13.15, but I'll try to go there and try it by myself hehe. It looks quite interesting, if I may.
Overall impression? I was satisfied with the lunch I had in this restaurant, and I'd say that this is a good place for lunch and/or dinner. The price is good, and isn't overly expensive. But well, the price suits the quality of the food, which are both equally good for me. I'd recommend their Alice's Tea Variation; they all have interesting pictures and are fruity. I will have to plan a next visit to that place just to try their tea and desserts line, haha.
Nonetheless, it was worth it!
