Food-tastic Day: Eat and Eat Again

Holiday is always the perfect time to go and gain yourself some weight, am I right? At the end of the day, my tummy is just full with all the meals I've consumed in a day, but I'm happy.

I REGRET NOTHING. AT ALL. xD

For today, I pulled my friend and my lil brother along to Plaza Senayan (again, lol) for some 'food-testing'. Agreed that we will meet up at 12, my friend arrived later than we were. The actual plan was that we're going to eat at Nannini for lunch and proceed to desserts at either Garçon or TWG Tea Salon & Boutique, with the latter opened months ago, I think. But we cancelled the Nannini one since, again, pricing problems, and we went to Garcon for lunch.

Like any other fancy restaurants in PS, Garcon has a good atmosphere, with its dimmed lights and soothing music. The interior is perhaps can be pictured as that kind of American bar-style interior (was that even a description, lol). Overall, it is fitting for a good dining and a hearty conversation, judging by the customers who dined in this place.

Having learned from my previous attempt at Union, I thought that this one might be at least cheaper. And boy was I wrong. Although I was still shocked at the price, but since we were here to have a taste, it was rather OK for me. After several 'debating' on which one should we get, we went straight for the lunch set (1 starter, 1 main course, and 1 drink), since it was actually better than having to buy just one dish, which is actually more expensive lol.

Garcon's Bread and Butter

I absolutely love it when restaurants gave out free bread with butter before the meal comes. Who doesn't like free stuff bread anyways?

In comparison with Union's bread and butter, I love Garcon's butter for the bread. They added some spices on it, and it came out perfect on the still-warm bread. The saltiness wasn't too overboard, which is good. On the other hand, I absolutely love Union's bread rather than Garcon's, since the bread is softer and I could easily munch on it. Garcon's bread was a little too hard, and since I avoid eating anything hard these days (due to my teeth complexities), it was a personal down-side to me.

Mushroom Soup

My choice for the starter is the Mushroom Soup, and the portion is considerably small at first glance. I have to say, this was a bit of a down-side for me, since the soup was not that good. It was rather plain, though, and it lacked that mushroom tastiness. Personally, the foam was a strange addition to the soup, but still, it was a bit disappointing, considering that we paid a quite big sum of money for the set.

Chicken with Mashed Potatoes

This big guy is the cure for the slightly-disappointing soup; in fact, it was fulfilling. I absolutely love the chicken! The sauce were seeped through in the chicken, and there was a hint of freshness when I chewed down the chicken in my mouth. I can almost say that it has that melt-in-your-mouth effect; it was brilliant! Although I would like to eat the whole thing by hand (just like what I did to fried chickens), I couldn't do that since, well, I'm in this lavish restaurant. How am I suppose to do that in public? :P

On the other note, the mashed potato had too much milk in it, and I had some trouble on finishing it. The chicken was quite light, which is good, but the mashed potato was too heavy for me. I couldn't eat it after around 5 full scoops, but finally I finished them all with some chit-chat in the middle. It wasn't that bad, really.  But if the milk's ratio is decreased, it would be much better.

The whole set costs 128k, and overall the meal didn't disappoints me, since there are some good points on it. Still, if I can compare, I would go for Union's meal that I had before, since the meal was not heavy and it was light. Garcon's lunch set was good, but I'll definitely not choose their Mushroom Soup if I make another visit in the future.

Another interesting thing that I didn't get a chance to try is their desserts & pastries line. I got a shot of their pastry display, but sadly, I didn't purchase any since we planned to go to TWG for desserts. Maybe I will get one of them someday, but nevertheless, they all look very appetizing! :D

Some of their pastries :9

Next stop is TWG Tea Salon & Boutique! Oh how I love this place. Once you enter TWG, you can smell that sweet smell of tea leaves that they sell in the shop. They got many types of teas, displayed on a table, with variety of prices, and also some silverware to go with the teas. Beware of the prices though; they're quite expensive! But they all smell so heavenly, how can I resist?

Gorgeous pastries are gorgeous

TWG also has their own pastry and macaroons line, in which I was very interested on trying one of them out. The pastries are all priced at 49k, while the macaroons are 15k. We ended up buying one of their pastries to be taken home since my friend didn't want to wait for a table at TWG, which is OK for me as well. I went for their Green Tea cake, while my friend went for Strawberry with Pistachios cake. Both look equally gorgeous! :)

Green Tea Cake (49k)

This one is quick to become my favorite, due to its light flavor. The green tea flavor wasn't very dominating, though, and it wasn't too sweet as well. I have nothing much to say except that this is good. But then, this was quite decent in terms of taste. It's just too light for me, haha. What is full when you got dessert in front of you, yes? xD Exercises can come tomorrow, but today I got to eat sweets, now :)

At the end of the day, I had fun with my friend and brother, and of course, probably gained some weight as well. I am finally satisfied, yes I am. The love for food is the most sincere, after all~!

....and I have to make a mental note to get some of Garcon's pastries one day! I almost burn a hole on my wallet today, gawd. O_O
